America's Epic Rail Journey

Days 1-2  Chicago  
Fly to beautiful, lakeside Chicago, your home for the next two nights. Explore the city’s top sights and incredible architecture on your included guided tour.      

Days 3-4  Chicago to Denver  
Board Amtrak’s California Zephyr and start your journey west. Admire the mighty Mississippi and the vast Nebraska flatlands en route to mountainous Colorado, spending the night on the train. Arrive in Denver the following morning and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.    

Days 5-7  Denver to Salt Lake City  
This morning, board the iconic Canyon Spirit train in Denver for the three day Rockies to the Red Rocks journey. Unwind on board as you travel past scenic canyons and the meandering Colorado River. Arrive in the delightful resort town of Glenwood Springs and spend the night in a comfortable hotel. The following day, reboard the train and cross the Colorado-Utah border, admiring red sandstone landscapes as you approach Moab.  Spend a night in Moab before enjoying your final day aboard the Canyon Spirit, taking in sweeping views of majestic rock formations as you wind your way to Salt Lake City.  

Day 8  Salt Lake City to San Francisco    
Board the California Zephyr and travel across the fir-covered Sierra Nevada Mountains and over the high altitude Donner Pass arriving in San Francisco the following afternoon.  

Days 9-10  San Francisco    
Upon arrival, spend the next couple of days enjoying the sights of this iconic city with a hop-on hop-off bus ticket. Enjoy an included tour of the intriguing island prison of Alcatraz and board a relaxing catamaran sightseeing cruise.    

Days 11-12  Fly home
