Itinerary
Days 1-4 New York City
Fly to New York and make your way to your hotel, ready for a few days exploring the many sights. Take a stroll through the iconic Central Park, see the Statue of Liberty and venture up the Empire State building for a view of the skyline from this famous observation deck. After busy days sightseeing discover some of the city’s excellent food scene and perhaps head to Broadway for some world-class entertainment.
Day 5 New York City to San Francisco
Make your way to the airport as you leave the East Coast behind and board a flight over to the West Coast. Upon arrival in San Francisco head to your hotel before venturing out to explore the Fisherman’s Wharf neighbourhood, with its wide range of restaurants available and resident sea lions at Pier 39.
Days 6-7 San Francisco
Enjoy a couple of days exploring this wonderful city. Perhaps book tickets for the fascinating Alcatraz Island. A former prison that housed notorious criminals including Al Capone and George ‘Machine Gun’ Kelly, Alcatraz today is a popular tourist attraction where you can learn about its intriguing history. Take in views of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, ride the historic cable cars up Nob Hill, stroll through the bohemian Haight-Ashbury neighbourhood and see the ‘Crookedest Street in the World’, Lombard Street.
Day 8 San Francisco to Monterey
Pick up a car and drive south to Monterey. Visit Cannery Row, a historic sardine-packing district made famous by the book of the same name written by John Steinbeck and now the place to go for a variety of shops, restaurants and attractions.
Day 9 Monterey
Monterey is renowned for its year round whale watching, so why not cruise out into the ocean in search of the magnificent marine life that calls these waters home, including dolphins, gray whales and humpback whales.
Day 10 Monterey to Cambria
Continue your road trip down Highway 1, taking in spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and rugged coastline en route, including the particularly scenic Big Sur stretch of coastline. Arrive in Cambria, a quaint seaside village with independent galleries, cafés and boutiques.
Day 11 Cambria to Santa Barbara
Drive on to Santa Barbara. Known as ‘The American Riviera’, this glamorous city boasts a Mediterranean-style architecture against the picturesque backdrop of the Santa Ynez mountains.
Day 12 Santa Barbara
Spend your time here relaxing on one of the beautiful sandy beaches, strolling through the botanic gardens or indulging in the world-class dining scene.
Day 13 Santa Barbara to Los Angeles
Wind your way to the bright lights of Los Angeles. Perhaps visit the famous Santa Monica Pier, the perfect place to watch a stunning Californian sunset.
Day 14 Los Angeles
Discover this expansive city. Take in panoramic views from the Griffith Observatory, wander along Hollywood Boulevard and perhaps get a behind the scenes look at the Warner Bros Studio Tour.
Days 15-16 Fly home
Drive to the airport where you’ll drop off your car before catching your flight home.
