Itinerary
Days 1-4 New York
Fly to the bright lights of New York! For a spirited New York City welcome, head to Manhattan’s neon lit Times Square, shop along 5th Avenue or take in a dazzling Broadway show. Known for its skyscrapers, get a breathtaking birds-eye view from the observation decks of the Empire State Building or Rockefeller Center, on the way perhaps stop off at Grand Central station to admire its celestial mural and iconic clock. Keep meandering south to the historic Financial District to marvel at the dizzying One World Trade Center, famous Wall Street, and Charging Bull before taking your ferry tour from Battery Park for stunning views of the harbour. Hop off at Ellis Island and Lady Liberty to uncover the history of American immigration and independence. If in search of a change of pace head over to Central Park featuring scenic trails and charming bridges, it’s perfect for a peaceful stroll. Whether grabbing a pretzel from a street vender, a cheesy slice of pizza in Little Italy or dining à la carte be sure to indulge in the city’s diverse culinary scene.
Days 5-7 Washington DC
Depart from New York’s Penn Station aboard Amtrak’s Acela for a swift, comfortable journey to Washington DC. Washington's Union Station is centrally located and it's easy to hop in a taxi to your nearby hotel. Spend time exploring the National Mall, home to landmarks like the White House, Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument. Stroll around the Tidal Basin, a picturesque reservoir where you can enjoy striking views of the surrounding memorials. DC offers a plethora of Smithsonian Museums for you to enjoy, notably the Museum of American History filled with exhibits that bring the nation’s history to life. For a taste of local life head to Dupont Circle, with vibrant cafés, boutiques and galleries or explore Adams Morgan’s colourful rowhouses. Enjoy a quiet moment in Meridian Hill Park, a captivating urban oasis featuring an Italian style garden and several impressive statues. For a memorable evening catch a world-class performance at the Kennedy Center showcasing DC’s thriving art scene.
