The Road to Rock'n'Roll

Days 1-3  Nashville  
Fly to Nashville, the fabulous ‘Music City’ and the home of country. Uncover its music history and culture at one of the many attractions such as the Ryman Auditorium and Johnny Cash Museum. In the evening soak up classic country music at the Grand Ole Opry or dance the night away along Broadway’s honky tonks.  

Day 4  Nashville to Florence  
Pick up your car and head south to Alabama and to the pretty riverside town of Florence, an ideal base to explore ‘The Shoals’ area.  

Day 5  Muscle Shoals  
Tour the FAME Recording Studio in Muscle Shoals where icons such as Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and Etta James recorded. Nearby in Tuscumbia is the Alabama Music Hall of Fame where you will find memorabilia from Alabamians such as Lionel Richie and Nat King Cole.  

Day 6  Florence to Tupelo  
Cross into Mississippi and to the small town of Tupelo, famous for being the birthplace of Elvis Presley. Visit the tiny two room house where Elvis grew up and learn of his humble beginnings before he became the King of rock’n’roll!  

Day 7  Tupelo to The Mississippi Delta
Travel on to charming Greenwood in the Mississippi Delta. The blues were born in the Delta and the area is home to numerous sites on the Mississippi Blues Trail. The excellent, interactive Grammy Museum in Cleveland is well worth a visit and for some live music, make sure to visit an authentic juke joint or blues bar.

Day 8  The Mississippi Delta to Memphis  
Head up Highway 61, known as the Blues Highway and arrive in legendary Memphis: home of rock’n’roll.

Days 9-10  Memphis  
Elvis fans will of course want to visit his mansion, Graceland as well as Sun Studio where Elvis laid down his first track. Along with rock’n’roll the city is legendary for its soul music so make sure you check out the Stax Museum of Soul and the Rock’n’Soul Museum. Dine on pulled pork and smoked ribs at a classic barbecue joint before enjoying the live music along iconic Beale Street.  

Days 11-12  Fly home  
Drive to the airport and drop off your car in time for your flight home.
